AROUND TOWN
The Bulldogs won a shootout. 41 to 34 over South Sumter Friday night, in overtime, at home. They're 2 and 1 and sitting first in 6A District 5. Harmony went the other direction, shut out 19 to 0 by Poinciana at home.
The Lakefront dock is coming out. Crews started Tuesday on a $281,207 replacement at the marina, and the new one gets a guardrail. Ramps stay open. The south end dock handles loading until it's finished, end of September.
Amendment 3 hits your November ballot. County leaders say it could pull $79 million out of local property tax collections over two years. Homestead exemption goes from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027, then $250,000 in 2028.
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
Loading Gastrobrunch, 1023 New York Ave. Southern plates with a Spanish accent, from Jahnae Allen, Matthew Rody and James Brady. Open Friday through Monday, 9am to 3pm.

DID YOU KNOW
Before it was a soldier town, St. Cloud was sugar. Hamilton Disston signed for four million acres of Florida at 25 cents an acre in June 1881, the largest land buy ever made by one person per the New York Times. In 1883 he put 20,000 acres of cane where you live now and named it after St. Cloud, Minnesota. The Panic of 1893 and the freeze that followed killed the crop. He died in 1896. The Union veterans showed up thirteen years later.
