AROUND TOWN

Crabby's keeps the lakefront, at a higher price. Council approved a new ten year lease on the city marina building, 3 to 1, on October 8. Rent jumps from $7,500 a month to $10,000, plus 3% a year and a cut of sales over a threshold. Starts November 1. The details.

The Bulldogs rolled Toho 38 to 7. Lightning delayed it, then St. Cloud put it away. Quarterback Jeremiah Lattier took player of the week. Read up.

Early voting is open for November 3. That ballot has the Seat 5 runoff on it, Alex Rodriguez against Kirk Zilke. Rodriguez got there by one vote in August's hand recount. Where and when.

LOCAL SPOTLIGHT

The Black Squirrel Bookstore, 1118 New York Ave. Books out front, a speakeasy tucked in behind them. Doors at 6 on Thursdays, and Halloween glow bingo runs Saturday afternoon for $13.

DID YOU KNOW

Friday's game gets its name from 1909, when the Seminole Land and Investment Company bought 35,000 acres here and sold it off to Union veterans of the Civil War. They came from everywhere. Mt. Peace Cemetery took 427 of them between 1910 and 1942, the largest group of Union veterans buried in the South.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

Last issue: Trail of Terror's middle weekend, the Seat 5 runoff set for November 3, and Christmas Parade registration opening. Read it here.

Go enjoy your weekend, St. Cloud. We'll be back Thursday.
