Hey St. Cloud.
The fireworks are swept up and the lake survived us. This week: the Soldier City Market is back Saturday, dominoes get serious Sunday, and there's pilates with kittens downtown. Here's everything worth knowing this week.

AROUND TOWN
A standing ovation for St. Cloud first responders. A local resident went into cardiac arrest at work earlier this year. Coworkers started CPR, St. Cloud officers took over with an AED, and on Friday HCA Florida Osceola Hospital honored the crews and dispatchers who saved her.
Downtown shops are teaming up. A group of downtown business owners now meets monthly on one question: how to turn those big Lakefront Park crowds into foot traffic on the block. Summer runs slow down there, and they're not waiting around.
School starts Monday, August 10. Osceola students get about one more month of summer. The supply lists will find you soon enough.
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
Just A Glazin
A paint your own pottery and mosaic studio at 1109 B 10th St downtown. Cool inside, easy with kids, and everybody leaves with something they actually made. This Sunday at 9am they're hosting mat pilates with kittens, which we did not have on our 2026 bingo card. Details on their page.

DID YOU KNOW
Ever wonder what Tohopekaliga actually means? The best scholarly read of the Muscogee words is "fort site." During the Second Seminole War, families took shelter on the lake's islands, which likely earned it the name. By the 1950s locals had shortened it to East Lake Toho. The "sleeping tiger" version you may have heard is folklore, not linguistics.
