AROUND TOWN
The world's largest swimming lesson comes to town Thursday. Chris Lyle Aquatic Center joins the global event Thursday morning from 9am to noon, free, teaching kids and parents water safety before summer hits full speed.
St. Cloud is getting noticed. The Orlando Business Journal just featured the city as the engine of Osceola's growth, pointing to new business, healthcare, and leadership. We're not a secret anymore.
Set your fireworks clock. The city moved the 4th on the Lake fireworks up to 9pm sharp this year. Parking near the lakefront fills early, so plan to roll in before dark.
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
The Black Squirrel Bookstore & Speakeasy
Tucked into 1118 New York Ave downtown, it's an indie bookstore with a secret. Follow the clues in the shelves to crack a four digit code, and a 1920s speakeasy opens up behind the books. Open Thursday through Saturday evenings. Date night that isn't dinner and a movie.

DID YOU KNOW
Ever wonder why downtown streets carry northern state names? When St. Cloud was founded in 1909 as a colony for Civil War Union veterans, Col. John McElroy named the north south streets for the Union states. New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Ohio. So when you grab a book on New York Avenue, you're standing on a little piece of that story.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Missed Issue 15? St. Cloud is bringing back the Soldier City motto, the city ranked the fastest growing in Osceola County, Council approved the 276 acre Roan Bridge project, and we told the story of the man who bought four million acres of Florida for a quarter an acre. Read it here.
Go enjoy your weekend, St. Cloud. We'll be back Thursday.
