AROUND TOWN
The Brass Bugle stays in St. Cloud. Jeremiah Lattier scored from three yards out with 25 seconds left, and the Bulldogs took the Soldier City Classic 14 to 7. They're 6 and 3, second in the district, still alive for a 6A Region 2 spot, and they close at home against Lake Howell. Read it.
Kissimmee's mayor was arrested. Jackie Espinosa faces grand theft and an organized scheme to defraud. Judge Hal Epperson set bond at $70,000. The details.
So was a sheriff's deputy. Joseph Billittier, 29, was picked up Tuesday on a warrant from his own agency, charged with battery on a person 65 or older, official misconduct, and perjury. Read up.
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT
Phyre Saloon and Steakhouse, 918 New York Ave. That building has stood on New York Avenue since 1909. Tomahawks, a $13 fish fry on Fridays, karaoke Mondays. Saturday's block party lands right outside the door.

DID YOU KNOW
Disston Drive is named for the man who bought Florida. In 1881, Hamilton Disston agreed to take four million acres of state land at 25 cents an acre, which the New York Times called the largest purchase of land ever made by a single person in the world. He dug more than 80 miles of canals trying to drain the Kissimmee floodplain and never managed it. His headquarters on Lake Tohopekaliga turned into Kissimmee.
