Florida's Teacher of the Year teaches right here. Kyndall Brown, an agriscience teacher at Harmony Middle, took the statewide title last week. She reaches over 200 kids a year and started a fishing club at the school.
Heart attack care got a lot closer. Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital now runs its cardiac cath lab around the clock, so major heart attacks get treated in town instead of on a long ambulance ride to Orlando.
The Soldier City Market returns August 22. Same setup at Veterans Park: local vendors, live music, and veterans resources, wrapped before the worst of the heat.

Downtown's streets carry state names for a reason. When St. Cloud began in 1909 as a colony for Union Civil War veterans, Col. John McElroy named the avenues for the states that fought for the Union: New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts. As the city grew east and west, southern state names joined the map.
